Jacques Skutt - Multi-Instrumentalist, performer, recording artist and studio owner
I began my professional career as a rock guitarist at the age of 15. My band played monthly at a club just north of London, Ontario in Canada. The band quickly progressed and we began doing the bar circuit throughout Ontario and Michigan. That was back in the 60's and early 70's. Like every other rock band of that era, we were loud and heavy, covering the now celebrated songs of famous bands remembered only by their aged fans.
At the age of 28, I got married and started a family. Traveling was not conducive to family life and neither was my meager income derived from music. I reluctantly decided to give up music and find a "temporary" job until the time was right for me to jump back in.
I retired from my "temporary" job last year at the age of 65. Determined not to evolve into a sedentary old fart, I took my only remaining guitar (a '67 Gibson Melody Maker) out of the closet and began practicing. I quickly put together a home recording studio, learned Studio One DAW, recorded backing tracks that I use for performing a solo act and also wrote, recorded and mastered my first major album "Feel It" which is now being distributed world-wide. My solo act features songs of many genres; rock, blues, alternative and country with a scattering of originals. I am foremost a guitarist and and I lean heavily on my ability to showcase that skill regardless of genre.
I live for doing live performances. I prefer solo presentations, free of the complications that are sure to be part of being in band. I also love doing studio work and exploring new techniques, styles, instruments and genres. This is evident when listening to "Feel It" which I guarantee is nothing like you've ever heard before.
My songs reflect real life scenarios, either personal or imagined. I feel strongly that a song should tell a story and that the music should reflect the mood of the wording expressed. My website focuses on songs that I have written and copyrighted for commercial and branding endeavors.
I am working now on my second album which I intend to be more blues centered....but we'll have to wait and see!
